Charter Standard Award.
23 Jan 2011

Wigan Junior Latics FC are proud to announce that we are now a Charter Standard Club.
The award was presented to Wigan Junior Latics FC by Lancashire Football Association before thousands of supporters at the DW Stadium when Wigan Athletic FC entertained Fulham on Saturday 15th January 2011.
Over 100 of the clubs players, parents, coaches and committee attended the game and the award was received by our Chairman Keith Kynaston, Vice-Chairman Malcolm Veall, Honorary President Robin Hurst and proudly holding the Charter Standard plaque was one of our clubs newest recruits.
The FA Charter Standard programme, supported by FA partner McDonalds, was established to help clubs improve the standards of coaching, administration, player development and safeguarding children. The Charter Standard award is presented to clubs like ours who have raised their standards in these areas and lead the field in promoting best football practice, both on and off the pitch in grassroots football.
The FA Charter Standard award acknowledges the effort that Wigan Junior Latics makes in ensuring that the club offers opportunities for players to develop their skills and play football in a safe and positive environment.
This was definitely one of the clubs proudest moments.

Festival of Football
27 Jun 2010

The weekend of 26/27th June 2010 saw the first ever Festival of Football held by Wigan Junior Latics FC.
Months of preperation and planning went into hosting this very successful event and the weather proved to be perfect (if not a little too hot) for our guests to enjoy our football weekend.
Refreshments, Beat the Goalie and target shooting were amongst a few of the extra activities we provided to keep all of our guests happy.
A visit from Lancashire FA's John Treacy provided visiting clubs with plenty of the Respect Programme's reading material although everybodys conduct over the whole of the weekend was nothing short of fantastic.
DE Photos were our official photographers and considering this was our first Football Festival, they were impressed with the excellent organisation we provided.
This Festival of Football is the first of many to come and if we can have a weekend as good as this one, we'll be very happy indeed!

Lancashire Cup
06 Feb 2011

On Thursday 13th February 2003. Wigan Junior Latics F.C. Won The Under 12 Youth Cup Competition

Where it all began........
01 Nov 2009

The organisation of Wigan Junior Latics was formed in 1983 for the junior supporters of Wigan Athletic.
The original set up consisted of a football section and a social section. Both sections were linked but were run by their own respective committees. Over the years we have maintained our links to Wigan Athletic Football Club as they have progressed through the leagues.
Any football member has the opportunity to be involved in social events organised by the club under the ‘Junior Stripes’ title. We encourage participation in such events and also attendance at matches. Every team has the opportunity to provide mascots at a Premiership game. We use the DW stadium facilities for functions and in particular our annual end of season Presentation Event.

The objective of the Wigan Junior Latics Football section is to encourage young people in and around the Wigan area to play Association Football by providing structured football opportunities for youngsters to play at age levels of U’8 through to U’16.
We want players to progress within the Club. Success is for quality players with sound techniques and skills to move up through the Club's teams. It is our continued aim to improve and develop their skills, techniques and attitudes and support these aims with good facilities, good standards of coaching, all necessary equipment and organisation controls in place to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
As a club our ethos is one of inclusion and equality. We ensure that all players are treated equally and with respect. Likewise we expect, coaches, managers, players, parents and all other spectators to treat each other with mutual respect.

As a Club we actively promote the following:

Team focus
Personal development
Fair play and sportsmanship
Integrity
Respect for others
Discipline
Active involvement in the community

We have in place a Committee compiled of the following positions:

Chairman
Vice Chairman
Honorary President
Secretary
Treasurer
Welfare Officer
Fixture & Referee Co-ordinator

This body of people have developed through the Club structure. The majority having been involved within the Club as parents, coaches or managers. They endeavour to act in the best interest of the Club and within the boundaries of all the procedures and policies available to ensure we can continue to improve and develop.
The club is affiliated to the Lancashire Football Association and is guided by their regulations to ensure we comply to, all requirements.

The running of the Club is totally voluntary. In order to deliver what is needed there is a large annual financial turnover. This has to be covered by sponsorship, membership subscriptions and money from organised fund raising events. This is an area where we depend on the involvement of parents, relatives and Club members. This encourages a good community spirit within the organisation.
We endeavour to provide a responsible, well-managed and supportive recreational and sporting environment for people and families of all backgrounds and all abilities.

Over the years we have successfully built a reputation to be proud of. Our team’s represent the Club in Leagues and Cups with some success. Teams have won numerous Fair Play awards. We have been represented in County Cup finals and invariably provide players to play in Wigan Schoolboy’s Teams and League Representative Teams. A measure of our success is when players progress to “School of Excellence” levels with professional clubs. We consider this to be a major achievement and applaud the youngster who has benefited from our time, effort and commitment.
